In this article, you’ll learn how to add a card to your Cash App account.

Adding and removing cards on Cash App can be a bit more complex than other apps since the platform allows only three cards: one debit card, one bank account, and a maximum of one credit card. Each of these cards has specific uses.

For instance, when you click the “Add Cash” button, the amount always comes off your debit card. On the other hand, when you click on the “Cash Out” button, it always uses your linked bank account.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to add a card to your Cash App account:

How to Add a Card to Your Cash App Account

  1. Open the Cash App on your phone and go to your account profile by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Scroll down to where it says “Linked Banks”. If you haven’t added any cards yet, the first option given will be to link a debit card. Note that you can’t add a bank account or a credit card until you’ve linked a debit card first.
  3. Click the “Link a Debit Card” option and enter your card number, expiration date, CVV, and zip code.
  4. After adding your debit card, you’ll see options to add a bank account and a credit card.

Note that Cash App has specific requirements for credit cards, so your bank may not be compatible with their services. If you’re unsure, reach out to your bank for more information.

Okay so now that I’ve added a debit card, you see that it’ll give you the option to add a bank and add a credit card.

Adding Bank Account & Credit Card to Cash App

Now, to add a bank account to Cash App, you’ve to first understand how it works first.

Cash App uses the Plaid service to link bank accounts. Plaid is a service that talks between apps and Banks. And then you can just select which bank you want to link and then it’ll send you to your bank account to authenticate with them. And your bank will probably ask you which accounts you want to share with Cash App, and then your bank will finally link.

Adding a credit card is pretty much the same process as adding a debit card. You’re just going to click the add credit card button.

It’s going to mention to you that you’ll have a 3% fee if you do use your credit card to send money to your friends.

You just type in your credit card number here and then it’ll ask you for the expiration date and the CVV. And you need to enter the billing zip code for that credit card.

Apparently, Cash App is pretty picky about which credit cards it will work with so your bank might not be compatible with their services. You can reach out to your bank for more information.

I hope this was helpful and helped you add a card to your Cash App.
