If you use your PC more often, you might find yourself looking at your phone for notifications, text messages, photos, and more. If that’s the case, why not link your Android or iOS devices to your PC and get access to all these right from your Windows 10 PC?

This feature works without data connection once it has been set up and the connection isn’t a barrier since it doesn’t involve a Bluetooth (except for calls) or wifi connection; just set it up and you can manage your device on your PC from anywhere at anywhere.

However, the feature is only for Windows 10 users with the April 2018 Update or later and Android users on V7.0 or above. The app doesn’t do much with iPhones, as Apple won’t let Microsoft or other third parties integrate as deeply with the iPhone’s iOS operating system.

For this tutorial, we’ll be using an official Microsoft app called “Your Phone.” It’s installed on your Windows 10 computer by default.

Requirements:

  • Android 7.0 or above
  • Your Phone Companion – DOWNLOAD HERE
  • Windows 10
  • A Microsoft account (you can create one on set-up)

How To Link Your Android or iOS Device To Windows 10?

  • Firstly, go to your PC and search for the “Your Phone” app which is preinstalled on it, and launch it, you can also download it here alternatively.
  • Next, choose what type of device you use and continue., “Android or IOS“.
  • Next, launch the Phone companion you downloaded above on your Android
  • You’ll be provided with 2 sign in options, log in with a Microsoft account  OR Scan a QR code

We’ll be using the Scan a QR code Method first since it’s the simplest method.
  1. Now, come back to your PC.
  2. You’ll be shown a code to scan from your PC screen
  3. Scan the code with your phone and till you get connected.
  4. Grant the app its required permission to enable it to function perfectly by clicking “ALLOW” on any prompt that comes up.
  5. Next, to allow the app to run in the background to avoid disconnection from your PC, click “ALLOW” at the prompt.

However, if you’re using a Microsoft account then, simply follow the below steps;
  1. Sign in to the Microsoft account that’s already signed into the PC you’re connecting to and click on “CONTINUE” when signed in
  2. Grant the app its required permission to enable it to function perfectly by clicking “ALLOW” on any prompt that comes up.
  3. Next is to allow the app to run in the background to avoid disconnection from your PC, click “ALLOW” to the prompt too.]
  4. Accept other prompts by clicking “ALLOW” and your PC and your device will be connected within minutes.

If you want to add more than one device to your phone then you can go to “Settings” > “Phone” > “Add a Phone” > Repeat any of the above steps.

That’s all about linking your Android or IOS device to your PC.
This comes in handy for those who spend most of their time working on their Windows PC, once activated, you don’t need to pick up your phone so many times.
